Parents’ Association Bingo Fundraiser

Our Parents’ Association have been busy organising a parents and children fun bingo evening.  This event will take place in Craughwell Hall on Saturday April 12th at 6.30p.m.  There will be lots of prizes to be won on the night.  This event will help raise much needed funds for our school and will allay costs for all children and parents throughout the school.  We hope to use the money raised to subsidise subject specialists to compliment the curriculum in our school e.g. dance, music, drama, art etc.  We hope you can attend to support this fundraiser!

hurling Mini 7’s Match Report

Cuman na mBunscoil Mini 7’s

On Wednesday 26th of March the 4th, 5th and 6th class boys from Carrabane N.S. participated in a mini 7s hurling blitz in Leitrim GAA grounds. There were nine teams there on the day. Our first game was against Drim Derrybrien. We got off to a good start and everybody on the team played exceptionally well. We beat them by a wide margin in the end. Our second game was against Kilcooley. They were a little bit better than the first team we played. Our two forwards Sean and Ciaràn Connaughton played well during that match. Like the other matches we won our third game against Kilnadeema with Cathal Bryan dominating in the backs. Our Final group game was against Leitrim. They were a lot better than the other teams we played but we still won by a wide margin with Niall Martin on top of his game. After coming first in our group we had to play a final against Mullagh N.S. who came first out of their game. All of us played well with everybody playing a part. In the end the score was 4-5 to 0-1. We had qualified to the finals day.

Hurling Mini 7’s

Cuman na mBunscol Iománaiocht

On the 26/3/14 4th, 5th and 6th class boys went to Leitrim to play a hurling blitz, it was the mini 7s. Throughout each game Mr. Mahony and Mr. O’ Raghallaigh changed the captain but the same team started. The starting team each match was

Ben Keane

Mark Randles      Cathal Bryan

Niall Martin       Alex Evans

Sean Connaughton        Ciaran Connaughton

Subs: Conor Bran, Gary Randles, Mark Keogh

In the first match we played Drim/Derrybrien, Ciarán Connaughton was the captain, we beat them convincingly and Sean Connaughton played well. All the subs got played.  Our next game we played was against Kilcooley, Sean Connaughton was captain, and we beat them as well, this time Alex Evans played well. The third game was against Kilnadeema. Ben Keane was captain. We already played Kilnadeema in a challenge match earlier on in the year and we beat them, the second meeting with them was no different. Niall Martin played well this game. Fourth game was against Leitrim. They were the toughest opponents so far but we were good enough to hold them off. Cathal Bryan had a cracking game clearing every ball that came to him. Our fifth game was against Mullagh and it was the final. Cathal Bryan was the captain. We had a team talk in the dressing room and a few drills to warm up. We began with the same team as usual and we start great scoring a goal and a point in the first two minutes. Further on in the match we started to run away from Mullagh when the score was 4-5 to 0-1 at the end. Ciarán Connaughton played good and we could afford to bring on all our subs. Now we are through to the final which will be held on the 10th of April 2014.
